A good cocktail is a nice way to ring in the New Year, especially when two kinds of whiskey and a bourbon-soaked cherry are involved. This year, I was treated to a little whiskey in my whiskey by our hosts, who introduced me to the cocktail "Honey on Rye": Honey on Rye: Rye (we used Ri) A splash of Wild Turkey American Honey (a liqueur blended with honey and bourbon) Maraschino cherry (preferably of the bourbon-soaked variety) A delicious start to 2012! We wanted to bring something fun for the New Year's cocktails, so we picked up some Bitters - lemon-flavored, peach-flavored, and chocolate-flavored, all from Fee Brothers. Every recipe I could find for the chocolate-flavored bitters involved whiskey. Bartender Marc did a twist on a Manhattan - we were without vermouth - with approximately this simple, but enjoyable recipe (it was late, so we were working in approximations): 3 oz Richters American Whiskey 3 to 4 splashes of chocolate bitters Sip. Enjoy. Smile. Comments are closed.
